David Brisbin, born June 26, 1952, is an American actor. He guest stars as Internal Affairs Detective Richard Trumper in the first season of Boomtown. He has also worked with Boomtown creator Graham Yost on his earlier series Hey Dude. He is also known for his roles in the films Forrest Gump (1994), Leaving Las Vegas (1995), and Erin Brockovich (2000).


Early lifeEdit


He made his screen acting debut in the film Chain Letters (1985). He went on to small roles in the films No Picnic (1986), Five Corners (1987), Kiss Daddy Goodnight (1987), and The Big Blue (1988). He then began working in television with supporting roles in the series Monsters, The Equalizer, and Law & Order. He was a starring cast member for the situation comedy Hey Dude. He appeared in all five seasons of the show from 1989 to 1991. Future Boomtown creator Graham Yost was a writer for Hey Dude.

He continued to guest star in television throughout the 1990s. He had a prominent role in the film Forrest Gump (1994) as a Newscaster. He played a landlord in the film Leaving Las Vegas (1995). In 1997 he played Mr. Anderson in the first season Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "The Pack".

In 1998 he began a recurring role as the psychiatrist Dr Alexander Babcock in ER. He first appeared in the fourth season. He appeared in 19 episodes up to the ninth season of the show in 2002. The series starred his wife Laura Innes.

In 1999 he played Allyn B. Hazard in the From the Earth to the Moon episode "Spider". Yost directed the episode.

In 2000 he played Dr Jaffe in Erin Brockovich, starring opposite Julia Roberts in the title role.

He guest starred in Yost's series Boomtown as Internal Affairs Detective Richard Trumper. He first appeared in the fifteenth episode "Storm Watch", shepherding the investigation into the leak from the series main police station. He reprised the role in the season finale "Lost Child", pursuing an investigation into main character Joel Stevens.

He has gone on to appear in Boston Legal, Bones, Brothers & Sisters, and Desperate Housewives.

Personal lifeEdit

He is married to actress Laura Innes and they have two children together: Cal and Mia.
